Weather extremes ... Holland, Germany, Scotland and York
Its been another busy busy few months. July started out touring Holland and Germany with fellow kiwis ‘The Bollands’. I met these guys in Hong Kong while we were both living there and they soon became one of my favourite live acts. I was luckily enough to perform in Taiwan and New Zealand with them before they decided to test out the waters in Europe. While is was lovely to escape the New Zealand winter, Euiorope was recording record temperature days and our tour vans air con couldn’t compete. I ended up freezing bags of ice to hug when it got too hot. This was also my first tour with a baby on board, the new edition of Baby Bolland “Molly Bee” brought a whole new experience to tour life ... less whisky ... more milk 😀. The highlight was performing in the courtyard inside a Castle in Germany. It seemed like the whole town showed up - it was really awe-inspiring to see how much work everyone put in to make this such a memorable event.
Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018
This was my third year doing the Fringe festival. It also marks 2 and a 1/2 years as a full time musician. This festival becomes more addictive every year. There is a definite bubble of almost magical energy that radiates through the streets (even on the gloomiest of days). I’ve met life long friends here and there’s something so priceless about being surrounded by hundreds of creative people following their dream.
I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of doing street shows. Busking was really intimidating for me at first but the more I do it the more I love it. It’s 100% real and the most rewarding ... not for the faint hearted though (especially on the icy cold sideways rain days)
Thanks for everyone’s support this year and especially all the talented photographers who take their time to get the timeless shots and sent them through. ⭐️
Ed Fringe shows
One-off my fav things about the festival is the amount of amazing shows and variety there is to see. Here’s a pic of the band at a Roller Disco night. I did manage a few instant bruises but all in all I’d say my roller skating was pretty good.
After all being in Edinburgh again the forces of the band got together for the annual Stramash gig. Such a great night and I’m really looking forward to touring Europe with the girls. Our Europe tour starts on the 19th September in Holland and we will be making our way through the country as well as a few dates in Germany. Watch this space for more details.
